A. Non-Chinese Student Supporting
Learning Support

Support for Parents
- Explain the content of homework and notices to parents to allow them to follow up on students’ studies.
- Organize training activities for parents, such as workshops and talks.
- Organize parent meetings regularly, arrange simultaneous translation to break language barriers and help parents understand their children’s learning progress.
Teacher Training
Arrange teachers to attend “The Learning & Teaching for Non-Chinese Speaking Children – Professional Development Programme for Kindergarten Teachers” co-organized by the University of Hong Kong and the Education Bureau to let teachers master the professional abilities and knowledge in providing support to the learning needs of non-Chinese speaking students, thus work out the teaching content which meets the learning needs of the non-Chinese speaking students, enhance the effectiveness in learning and teaching.
Community Service
- 「Centre for Harmony and Enhancement of Ethnic Minority Residents (“CHEER”) is a support service centre for ethnic minorities. It provides accessible interpreting and translating services and multi-dimensional programmes to the ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.Service Hotline

B. Special Education Needs Supporting
On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services (provided by Yan Chai Hospital)
This program is responsible by educational psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physical therapists, senior special care child workers and special child care workers. They will provide training activities for students in need individually or by team in schools.
Furthermore, this program will also provide talks, workshops and counselling for parents and guardians.
C. Other supporting
School Social Work and Support Service (provided by Yan Chai Hospital)
Objectives
- Protect children and adopt “child-centredness” as our core value.
- Strengthen parental education and enhance parent-child relationship.
- Strengthen the support to young children and their parents
( (especially on designated target)*)* - Support teachers, promote cooperation between families and schools, and establish a better learning environment.
- Help young children and their families to integrate into the community by making use of resources from the society.
Service Contents
- Provide counseling and referral services to cope with discipline issues, adjustment problems, emotion counselling as well as learning difficulties. Further referral to other professional services or social resources when necessary.
- Parent education support service provides different parent education, parent guidance team, talks, workshops and parent-child activities.
- School social workers will be stationed at school twice a week. Meanwhile, professional consultation with individual contact other than school station hours will also be provided by school social workers in case necessary. Social workers will proactively keep in touch with parents (by phone calls / meetings) so as to understand the needs of students and their families.
- Crisis management and intervention such as assistance in handling various relevant cases, providing emotional support for teachers / parents, seminars for parents and life education development classes, etc.
- Teacher’s support service provides teachers with individual consultation/ counselling as well as teacher training talks, etc.
